Accounting & Bookkeeping

Clear financials for better decisions — with books that are accurate, organized, and actually useful so you always know where your business stands.

Overview

Messy books aren’t just annoying. They cost you money, time, and sleep. When your financials are disorganized, every decision feels like a guess — and tax season feels like a fire drill.

Most businesses don’t need a massive accounting department. They need someone reliable who keeps things clean, catches problems early, and delivers reports that actually make sense — without the jargon, without the runaround, and without charging you for every five-minute phone call.

What You Can Expect

We take over your books completely — reconciliations, reporting, close process, all of it. You get a dedicated team that knows your business, keeps everything current, and gives you a clear picture of where you stand every single month.

The process is simple. We do the work. You get the reports. And when something needs your attention, we flag it — clearly, quickly, and without making it feel like a crisis.

Who This Is For

If you’ve ever dreaded opening QuickBooks, avoided looking at your bank account, or told your accountant “I’ll get to it next week” for three months straight — we’re built for you.

Why Not Dorks

Most bookkeeping services treat your business like a number. They process transactions, close the books, and move on. You get a PDF you don’t understand and a bill you didn’t expect.

Phil and Lisa built Not Dorks differently. They’ve managed books for businesses of every size — from solo founders to companies running multi-entity operations. They’ve seen what happens when books are ignored and what’s possible when they’re done right.

What you get is not a generic service. It’s a system designed around how your specific business operates — with the reporting, communication, and support to match.

Common Questions

Do I need to have my books caught up before we start?

Not at all. We handle catch-up bookkeeping as part of onboarding. In fact, starting with a cleanup often gives us a better understanding of your business.

How long does onboarding take?

Most clients are fully onboarded within one to two weeks depending on the state of their current books.

What software do you use?

We're tool-agnostic. We work with QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, and others — whatever makes the most sense for your size, budget, and goals.

What if I only need bookkeeping for a few months?

That's fine. We work month-to-month with no long-term contracts. Stay as long as it's working for you.

What happens after the setup is done?

You can continue with just the setup, or you can roll into our Accounting & Bookkeeping service for ongoing support. Many founders start here and naturally move into a longer-term relationship as their business grows.

Good accounting involves more than just experience and skills; it requires truly understanding and connecting with a business. For a small business in a niche industry like ours, finding that connection is invaluable. Phil and Lisa have gone above and beyond to help us untangle the complexities of manufacturing and e-commerce so that we can focus on what we do best. No matter what you’re building, you can trust them to keep the big picture in mind.”
